The city of Rotterdam has been actively involved in promoting and developing an open communication network based on fibre optic cables. Ontwikkelings Bedrijf Rotterdam (OBR) is the initiator of bringing fibre optic connections to clients in Rotterdam.

At this moment the open network is already used in some pilot areas, like the Lloydkwartier. In the near future the coverage of the fibre infrastructure will expand rapidly. In the future it must be possible to provide each household in Rotterdam with a very fast fibre connection, bringing fast internet connections, television and telephony.

In this project LGCE fulfilled a leading role. Besides the delivery of cable  and other materials LGCE was responsible for the whole construction process in Rotterdam.

This type of projects fits our goal to be a turnkey (material) supplier for our customers.
